The Rhys Daniels Trust was therefore a natural choice for the Obelisk Group 2008 Charity Appeal.

The Rhys Daniels Trust, under the patronage of The Duchess of Kent and Vice Patrons Max Clifford and Pauline Quirke, provides free accommodation for families with children receiving long-term treatment at hospitals around the UK, ensuring that families can stay together for as long as each child is undergoing treatment. By purchasing key land and property close to hospitals that house specialist baby and children's units, The Trust's 'Home from Home' appeal plays a crucial role in helping support families through these difficult times by providing accommodation completely free of charge.

The central event of the Obelisk Group's 2008 Charity Appeal was the Max Clifford Celebrity Golf Challenge. The Obelisk Group was one of the main sponsors of the 3-day Golf Challenge held at La Cala Golf Resort on the Costa del Sol in June 2008. The Challenge was attended by numerous celebrities including both Vice Patrons of the charity, Max Clifford and Pauline Quirke, Chris Tarrant, Des O'Connor and Johnny Briggs.

27 international teams participated in the Golf Challenge, each comprising 4 team members including many celebrities. The Obelisk Group was the proud winning team under the captaincy of Gary Shaw, ex-Aston Villa star, with the Obelisk Group second team led by Maik Taylor, Birmingham City goal keeper, achieving a very respectable 12th position. Highlights of the Golf Challenge were televised on Sky Sports in a 90-minute special.

For the 2008 campaign to invest in property to help families in need, the Obelisk Group raised over €50,000 for The Rhys Daniels Trust, proving that as well as generating personal wealth through investment, it is also possible to invest in wealth and benefits for others.
